2020 Oscar Night After Party Gala

Join us for the 13th Annual Oscar After Party Gala benefiting the Newnan~Coweta County Boys & Girls Clubs!  At this black tie event you can dress your best and walk the Red Carpet on February 22, 2020, at the Newnan Centre. The evening will be filled with delicious food, cocktails, fabulous live & silent auction items, and supporting a great cause.

The Boys & Girls Club works to save and change the lives of children and teens, especially those who need a safe, positive and engaging environment and programs that prepare and inspire them to achieve Great Futures. The trained and professional staff serves the youth of Newnan and Coweta County at two clubs. The programs focus on helping kids succeed in school, live healthier, and become leaders. No child is ever turned away for lack of financial resources.  The annual Oscar Night Gala helps to fund the clubs.

Coweta Ferst Foundation’s 2019 Lewis Grizzard & Catfish Bike Ride

Please consider Marie and me for the 2019 Lewis Grizzard & Catfish Bike Ride in Moreland, Georgia.  This event will take place on October 6, 2019 at 8:00am.  There are 12 mile, 25 mile and 66 mile options to choose from. You can register in advance at: Lewis Grizzard & Catfish Bike Ride.

The Coweta Ferst Foundation is dedicated to providing age-appropriate books for every child under the age of five in Coweta County.  This mission is important because:

  1. Sixty-one percent of low-income families do not have a single piece of age-appropriate reading material in their home?
  2. One-third of Georgia’s children start school unprepared to learn?
  3. Seventy-five percent of Georgia’s students who are poor readers in the third grade will remain poor readers in high school?

The more words a child hears, the larger the child’s vocabulary and the larger the child’s vocabulary, the more likely the child will be a proficient reader.  However, in order to read with a child, books must be in the home.

One event we never miss is the Coweta Samaritan Clinic’s annual fundraiser.  So, put on your jeans and boots and join us for the 9th Annual Bluegrass & Barbecue! This event will feature top local chefs, great bluegrass music, and lots of fun! Marie and I are long time sponsors of this event and more importantly the good work done by Samaritan Clinic.

This free clinic serves the medical needs of those citizens 19 year of age or older who live in Coweta County, have household incomes 200% below the federal poverty level and have no access to any medical insurance.

Samaritan Clinic began treating patients in October 2011. Since then the clinic’s patient base has grown to more than 950 individuals and volunteer healthcare professionals have conducted more than 8,000 patient visits.

With the exception of three full-time and four part-time employees, all medical care and office support is provided by volunteers. More than 80 volunteers are active at the clinic and the value of service provided by volunteers in 2014 was nearly $300,000. That does not include the value of services provided by many kind and skilled specialists in the community who treat clinic patients without charge in their offices.
